Jaguar Classic E-type: an icon is Reborn

As almost everyone knows I’m a car lover, but above all, I’m a classic car lover, and one of my dream cars that one day I will have in my garage is the Jaguar E-type.
The E-type is one of the most iconic, beautiful and fascinating sports car of all time. A true istant classic with a huge following in 56-year history – it made its debut at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show – with owners among the jet-set as well as stars such as Steve McQueen, Brigitte Bardot, Frank Sinatra and Sir Jackie Stewart.
The Jaguar E-type is coming back thanks to Jaguar Classic, a division of Special Operations that has already “reborn” – with Land Rover Classic Programmes – the Series I and Range Rover.
Next and first Jaguar Classic reborn iniatiative will be the iconic E-Type ready to debut today at Techno-Classica Essen Show.
The Jaguar E-type shown will be the first of an initial batch of 10 of comprehensively restored examples that will be offered from JLR Classic Works.
It’s a 4.2 Fixead Head Coupé Opalescent Gunmetal Grey from May 1965, originally exported to California. The car retains its original matching number bodyshell, engine and gearbox, completely rebuilt by Jaguar Classic experts technicians.
As much as possible of the original vehicle is retained or refurbished while any safety-critical parts are replaced with new items from Jaguar Classic Parts.
